Love Denver is a free annual back-to-school community event in Denver, North Carolina, organized by a coalition of local churches. This policy covers both the public website at www.lovedenver.net and the internal administration tool at ops.lovedenver.net ("Love Denver Ops"). It describes what we collect, how that information is used, how long it is kept, and how to ask for it to be removed.
Who runs this
Love Denver, a ministry of local Denver, NC churches. For any privacy question, data correction, export, or deletion request, contact bbarbour@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Information we collect
- Volunteer signups: when you fill out the volunteer form, we collect your name, email, phone, church affiliation, role preferences, shirt size, and any notes you choose to share. We use this to assign roles and stay in touch before and after the event.
- Contact messages: name, email, and message text from the contact form. Used only to reply.
- Admin accounts (Love Denver Ops only): name, email, role, and optionally shirt size. Used for sign-in, password reset, and operational notifications.
- Sign-in metadata (Love Denver Ops only): when admins log in we record the timestamp, IP address, and user-agent string for session and abuse-prevention purposes.
We do not collect or store personal information about minors directly. Backpack tickets for children are issued at the in-person event by volunteer leaders, not through this site.
Sign in with Google
Love Denver Ops offers an optional "Sign in with Google" button for admin accounts. When you choose to sign in this way, our application requests the following Google OAuth scopes:
openid— a stable identifier for your Google account.email— your primary Google account email address.profile— your display name and (if available) profile picture URL.
We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Photos, or any other Google product data. We do not receive or store your Google password.
What we store: we save your Google account identifier (the OpenID sub claim), email, and display name in our admin users table. We use this to recognize you on future sign-ins and to address you by name in the app.
How long: Google sign-in data is retained for as long as your admin account is active. When an administrator deactivates your account or you ask us to delete it, the Google account identifier and all linked fields are removed from our database.
Sharing: we do not share Google account data with any third party. It is used only to authenticate you to Love Denver Ops.
Revoking access: you can revoke our app's access at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions. That stops future Google sign-ins from linking to your Love Denver Ops account but does not delete the account itself. To delete the account entirely, email bbarbour@gmail.com.
How we use this information
- Coordinating volunteer assignments and event-day logistics.
- Sending event-related email (sign-up confirmations, station assignments, day-of reminders, password resets, admin invitations).
- Producing internal reports — for example, aggregate shirt-size counts to order t-shirts.
We never sell, rent, or share this information with marketers.
Other third-party services
- Amazon Web Services hosts the database and the application.
- Amazon SES sends the transactional email described above.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs an unobtrusive bot-check on the public signup and contact forms.
Cookies
The public site sets no analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies. The admin portal sets a session cookie (HTTP-only) and a CSRF cookie used for authentication and request integrity.
How long we keep data
Volunteer signups are scoped to the event year (e.g. 2026) and retained year over year so we can recognize returning volunteers. Admin accounts persist for as long as the user is active. Sign-in logs are kept for at most one year. You can ask us to delete your data at any time — bbarbour@gmail.com.
Your rights
You can ask us to correct your data, export a copy, or delete it entirely. We aim to respond within 30 days. Contact bbarbour@gmail.com.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the "Effective" date above and notify active admin users by email.
